Valentine’s/Galentine’s Modern Calligraphy for Beginners at Moniker Brewery

Join Sip & ScriptⓇ for a Night of Learning Calligraphy!

Join us at Moniker Brewery in Providence, RI for a festive workshop of Valentine’s/Galentine’s fun and pretty lettering for beginners! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Bride-to-be, or just a crafty individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink. We will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those special lettered details to your Valentine’s/Galentine’s cards. The perfect crafty night out!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop!

Feel free to come early, grab your seat, and purchase any drinks (drinks available to purchase throughout class too!). Moniker does not offer food directly, but options include a neighbor restaurant “There, There” (5% discount code if you order from the taproom), food trucks on occasion, or feel free to bring your own! Parking is available on the street or the free lot across from the brewery. Class will start promptly at 6:30PM! 

Class Expectations: Yes, lefties are welcome too! This class is encouraged for someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. We teach the basics and our expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class. We love using tracing paper with our guides to help you build muscle memory and develop your own style!  If you have tried calligraphy out before, this class will be a great refresher and hopefully a chance to try some new supplies from our beginner kit that will re-introduce you to this lovely form of art!

A note on bringing guests 16 and under: We love to share this passion with kids. You are welcome to get a ticket for your child as long as you are comfortable with people around them having a drink or two. We do ask that anyone under the age of 16 is to be accompanied by a ticketed adult at all times.
